OFSTED
Our most recent Ofsted inspection took place on 19/20 March 2024.
Whilst the school has been graded requires improvement overall, we have received good judgements in two key categories out of the four: behaviour and attitudes of students and their personal development.
Highlights from the report can be found below, showing that there is much to be proud of. Ofsted inspectors acknowledged the prolonged period of upheaval due to significant changes at the school but praised recent improvements, particularly in terms of the curriculum, reading and student behaviour.
Ofsted report highlights and comments from the inspection team:
Whilst the Ofsted team were with us, they commented on the school being a warm and welcoming place where safeguarding is effective and the leaders aspire for the teachers to do well.
- The school wants the best for students, irrespective of their personal circumstances or the challenges they may face.
- Teachers have strong subject knowledge and the thought behind some subjects and their implementation is effective.
- The comprehensive careers programme ensures all students receive the support they need to achieve their high aspirations for a bright future.
- The school has high expectations of students’ behaviour and attendance.
Since joining SELCAT Multi Academy Trust and the new senior leadership team taking up position from September 2023, we have worked tirelessly to establish robust plans, policies and procedures, and agree with the inspectors that more time is required to embed these new initiatives throughout the school.
The priorities set by inspectors are achievable and we are confident that by the next inspection, Ofsted will be impressed by the improvements we have made and the outcomes achieved.
