New Name, Renewed Commitment
As from Monday 24th March 2025 the South East London Catholic Academy Trust (SELCAT) will be officially St Oscar Romero Catholic Academy Trust.
This change marks a significant step in our ongoing commitment to Catholic Education in the Archdiocese of Southwark as we move away from our founding geographical name to one that embodies the values and teachings of St Oscar Romero, a revered figure in the Catholic community and an emblem of social justice, compassion and faith.
The decision to rename our Trust reflects our own faith journey as an organisation. The inspirational life and teachings of St Oscar Romero as a powerful symbol of faith, courage and commitment to human dignity very much aligned to our values as an organisation and faith community. We are blessed that the location of the National Shrine to St Oscar Romero is at our Diocesan Cathedral and provides a natural alignment to our Trust.
Notre Dame Catholic Girls' School remains an important part of St Oscar Romero Catholic Trust, and at this time of change we renew our commitment to excellence in Catholic education, faith, community service and putting opportunities for children and young people at the heart of everything we do. Our new identity as the St Oscar Romero Catholic Academy Trust reflects our dedication to nurturing a community rooted in excellence, justice, compassion, and faith in Christ Jesus. As we constantly strive to do what we can very well. This is very much in line with the charism of St Oscar Romero.
We are grateful for the continuing support of our school communities and families.
