On Wednesday 27th September 2017 we held an exceptionally busy Open Evening. More on this will appear in the next edition of Notre Dame News.
On Saturday 9th September, staff and translators from Notre Dame RC School joined staff from St. George’s Cathedral Catholic Primary School at the Elephant and Castle shopping centre. A stall was set up outside the La Bodeguita restaurant to encourage the Latin American community to find out more about our schools. Thank you to all involved.

St. Julies Legacy Celebration
by Sister Anne Marie Niblock
On Monday, 14th November, staff and students from our UK Notre Dame network of schools and colleges met together to celebrate St Julie's legacy of education. It was a wonderful experience hosted by Notre Dame Catholic College who were joined by students from St Julie's high school in the retelling the story Julie and Francoise in drama and dance. They also recalled for us the arrival of the sisters in Liverpool.
Coaches of staff and students arrived at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King, Liverpool from Dumbarton and Glasgow in the north, Plymouth and London in the south and from the East came Sheffield and Norwich. It was a beautiful liturgy in which we all participated, proclaiming, “Ah qu’il est bon, le bon Dieu”. As banners from all the schools were carried up in procession we heard each school motto echoing St Julie's words around the Cathedral. The baton, too, wove its way around the cathedral to be handed over to Sr Margaret Walsh to be taken to the Heritage Centre in Namur, Belgium. A golden replica was then handed to each school as a momento. The baton has celebrated St Julie and her charism in all the schools in a variety of ways during the last year since St Julie's High School launched it last March.
Sr Teresita, the leader of all the Sisters of Notre Dame across the world recorded a vote of thanks and her message was displayed on two giant screens at either side of the Cathedral. Sr Pat Ellen, the leader of the Sisters of Notre Dame in Britain, invited everyone to renew the following promises ...
WILL YOU OPEN YOUR HEART AS WIDE AS THE WORLD?
WILL YOU BE AN ANGEL OF PEACE?
WILL YOU STAND TALL AS SUNFLOWERS AS AN EXAMPLE AND STAND UP AGAINST WRONG DOING?
WILL YOU WALK BRAVELY ON THE PATH THAT HAS BEEN MARKED OUT FOR YOU?
WILL YOU SERVE THE GOOD GOD WELL WITH MUCH LIBERTY OF SPIRIT?
WILL YOU FOLLOW THE EXAMPLE OF THE SISTERS OF NOTRE DAME?
WILL YOU CONTINUE THE LEGACY OF ST. JULIE?
A resounding I WILL brought the celebration to a close with us all participating in the singing and actions of the closing hymn!
Our students enjoyed the day – even the long coach journeys to and from Liverpool! Our Senior Student Leadership Team, House Captains and Year Captains took part in the procession of schools carrying our school flags and banner, our Year Candles and flags of Kenya, Nigeria and Peru representing our sister schools in those countries which we support. Emmanuella from Year 7, who celebrated her birthday that day, was part of the baton procession. We look forward to many more joint celebrations with the seven other Notre Dame Schools in Britain.
