Governors' Biographies

COLIN GARVEY

MA ( London).  KSG.

40 years' teaching experience in South London schools.

15 of these years as Head Teacher of a mixed Catholic secondary school.

Governor of Notre Dame School for 12 years.  Also governor of a Catholic Sixth Form College.

RACHEL HARRINGTON

As a Sister of Notre Dame, I have taught in three of our high schools in Sheffield, Plymouth and Woolton, Liverpool.

I was usually one of three or four Sisters working in the schools and I enjoyed my teaching career very much.  In all cases I was supported by a large community of Sisters who prayed for the success of the girls in their exams as well as sharing in their joys and sorrows, sporting triumphs and disappointments.  After leaving teaching I returned to study for another five years.

Since then I have had the opportunity to visit our schools in Africa, Japan, South America and across the USA. In my new ministry for six dioceses in UK I am happy to serve on the Governing Body of Southwark Notre Dame when my other work allows.
