Design And Technology
The design and technology department is located on the second floor of the school building. There are three main areas within the department; food technology room, which has a computer suite leading to the textiles room, both rooms are purpose built and well resourced.
Design and technology is taught to all the pupils in year 7 to 9. Pupils spend part of the year in each material area, on a rotational basis.
The department now offers D&T Electronics, to pupils in year 7 and 8. Pupils are taught the basic priciples of creating different types of circuits, to control LEDs; moisture detectors and pressure pads, which are components they can use, when designing and making various artefacts.
At the end of Key stage 3, pupils are able to opt for various subjects, to study at GCSE; this includes D&T Food or Textiles. Health and social care is also taught in the department.
